I am definitely in the market for an implant as advised by Ali Raza on a previous appointment for a different space in my mouth (UL6).  But have found the process so far very tedious with a substantial amount of emails and no progress with my initial questions..

Re:   Multi-cam Live streaming: Tik Tok & influencers..

Originally I worked directly with Steven the Broadcast producer @ ‘Tik Tok’ who had already set up a small studio space in Manchester.  I Replicated the kit and set-up , style they were using at the London Studios I was running; which was an Atem switcher with 3 Sony A7’s. Inc:  onscreen graphics delivered by Tik Tok.. ,  Studio lighting with a technical operator to cut between cameras, add graphics and monitor sound levels. Utilising OBS software.

This was for a new venture, globally, for the parent company.  Taking popular Influencers with large followings and putting them in a ‘real-life’ studio setting to sell products in a QVC style show for streaming on Phones via their platform.

I gained a lot of insights in what worked for this new format and what did not.

Inc.  when to cut to the product or re-frame..   The difference between working with influencers and traditional TV presenters and how to keep their USP’s and fans happy.   This came about through monitoring the shows along with a statistician from L.A. who came specifically to see the early stages of progress.

I also produced for a well known London agency a similar show / promo (for the same platform) but utilising much higher production values that would be associated with traditional Live Television.  utilising the same portrait format and all the tricks that had been learned via the daily show which ran for 9 months in Studio 3.

Where to begin...

 Hi D,

Hope all is well..  

We’ve had a great summer, not sure if I previously mentioned..  

Me and M. went to Cornwall and the Eden Project as well as a quick jaunt to Hastings.  The heat has been amazing but that’s all coming to an end..   Like my last Job!

So,  in the meantime Ive been painting the flat, which I’m desperately trying to hang on to.  I’m hoping to sub-let the small office room on Air b&b; now that the pandemic seems to be a distant memory. Brixton is very trendy (again) and flat / house rentals are having the ‘Foxtons’ effect all around me.  I’ve dug my heels in this long so if I can get another year out of the flat then that’ll be great..  Today I’ve got an upgraded fibre broadband being installed too.

Since I’ve had some time on my hands and Mags has been in South Wales; doing up her mums new place which turned out to be a total wreck,  i’ve turned my attention back to my comics collection.

Not just reading them but buying individual bags and backing boards to keep them pristine.  Funnily enough its also stirred up thoughts and memories of the times when I bought them.  But I’ll leave the negative stuff for now!!

Ive actually got some questions that you might be able to help me with. That are indirectly associated with me trudging up my past, again….

- One of my friends has been studying Vedic Astrology in India and wanted to know the time that I was born, so that they can do a chart for me.  Unfortunately my birth certificate is only a basic one (I remember my mom saying that Harold wouldn’t fork out for a more detailed one) And has only the place and basic details on it.  Any chance you might know my time of birth ?

- I told someone I worked with that my mum went to a girls boarding school in Henley on Thames,  they told me (since they seemed to know) that there weren’t any such schools there.   It was always a mystery to me why she went away. However; she did tell me a story about breaking out at night and getting away with it, which someone later copied and got caught and suspended for.  Can you remember the name of the school, or is there a lot more to all this..?  She said that the daughters of service men had the opportunity to do this..   in my mind this all seems a tad unusual.. any memories / thoughts..  ??

This is a bit of a weird one..  I used to answer the house phone (sporadically) and people used to ask for the ‘Grand Wizard’; This is obviously a Freemason thing.    I was always told that it was a phonebook mix up, but he did disappear to his ‘work club’ on an evening once a  month!   I never saw any masonic paraphernalia in the house.  I had friends (when I was older) whose Dad’s were in the ‘Masons’ and they all knew about it.  Just another oddity of an unusual upbringing…. Do you know anything..?  (Might explain a few things)

I never knew about the Dutch house until I saw it when I got the train to yours…   

This just popped in to my mind…. Grandad said he was going to write his memoirs when I was staying with him in Billericay; after I had been working on the cruise ships.  Did he ever start..?  

I’ve yet to get the cine projector (that you gave me along with the super 8 films) working properly, as it needs some new (old) rubber parts.  It might be easier to pick up a new projector to be honest but I’ll see if I can find them…. :)

 I worked all the way through (on site) the Pandemic as a Key educational worker along with my NUS & Unison colleagues to implement safer working practices within our institutions. I became an advisor to the main H & S officers at LSBU. Helping to keep the facilities operating, writing and updating guidelines and working practices for the school of creative arts. As well as ordering PPE & implementing safer working conditions. Building works affected my new research role and the creation of a new digital-hub & moving-image research lab and I subsequently moved back into the commercial world; where I put all my acquired skills into everyday practice. Working consistently from one job to another and never getting ill. I took a short break after 12 months in my new role and caught the dreaded virus. The long term effects of this have now subsided and I am happy to be back volunteering with 'Reach' as a Producer / Production Manager and advising studios as a consultant. I am currently open to opportunities in my area of expertise

Cages at Riverside Studios	Added 2-Oct-2022	Rating:
The Riverside Studios is a great venue to host this work with crisp sound, dynamic lighting and superb front & back projection. The Play has a lot going for it technically and the costumes, lighting, animation & video were all very well executed. It's a dystopian tale that shows its influences from 1984, V for vendetta, Anime and musically from Emo-pop & Disney! I felt that the supporting talent were not used to their fullest, they all seemed very capable and brought the show to life at the beginning and at the end; It was pretty much a one man show with the protagonist (Woolf- played by the shows creator) singing his (vocoder) way through every act. Using a pepper ghost video effect was very effective during the umbrella / drowning in tears segment. It was an impressive and accomplished show which to me lacked the emotion that it wanted to portray.
Chelsea History Festival - Day 2 at Chelsea Physic Garden	Added 27-Sep-2022	Rating:
A very interesting talk @ the quaint Physic Gardens in Chelsea. The Speaker knew her subject well and spoke with confidence along with her presentation. Please AC.. I was not on the list and the rep. from the history festival had to call her supervisor who then come from another venue to OK my admittance. I'm sure it was a mix up at their end!
Richard Ashcroft in Concert at Crystal Palace Park Bowl	Added 8-Aug-2022	Rating:
South Facing festival with Richard Ashcroft, Ride, BDRMM etc.. This was a nice little festival with just a Main stage, a couple of bars and a smattering of food stalls. A very relaxed & sunny afternoon with the majority of the attendees chilled on the grass in the amphitheatre space in Crystal Palace. BDRMM - sounded good; they may have been influenced by Ride, MBV etc.. It was also great to see the reformed RIDE doing their thing and playing the entirety of one of their albums; maybe throwing in some more of their indie hits might have livened up the crowd who seemed to be only there for the main event...? Getting into the grounds was easy and less hassle than other festivals and there were plenty of bar staff on hand as well as lots of Loos. DJ Steve Lamacq looked perplexed at the DJ set-up and soon disappeared whilst Alan McGee spun some predictable toons but was not well amplified. The crowd stood up and saw their hero, Ashcroft come on... And the place Came alive when he sang 'the drugs don't work' with a sea of mobile phones lit up like fireflies in the arena. A good time seemed to be had by all.
A-Typical Rainbow at Turbine Theatre, Battersea Power Station	Added 1-Aug-2022	Rating:
The turbine theatre is a very nice little venue, with enthusiastic staff. This play was a super interesting insight into the life of its protagonist. A young boy with a disorder. Played excellently by its lead and supporting cast. With Good use of the stage , lighting and minimal props. A great show. Worth checking out.
Clapham Comedy Club @ Bread & Roses - Special Secret Guest at Bread & Roses (The)	Added 28-Feb-2022	Rating:
Dylan Moran was tonight's secret guest on this intimate comedy night upstairs @ the bread and Roses. Unbeknownst to the audience (mostly) who the nights’ entertainment might be, they were out to have a good time and have a funny, Sunday night out. The organiser and warm up act told stories of quitting work which felt too real. He was a great story teller. There was a short break and Dylan Moran came on, looking relaxed & confident; which I mention as performers, like us, have been locked down for a few years and this would be a topic that he would bring up, again and again, through out his navigation of trying new material and adding to his understanding of what post lockdown audiences might want to confront in their comedy.... He was genuinely funny with insightful and honest observations. which also felt a bit like his thought processes of the last couple of years or a therapy session. A very entertaining evening.
