 Dear D & J

Many thanks for the cards, very much appreciated and now displayed in my living room.   I hope you are all doing well and I am looking forward to both your Birthdays and the accompanying meal in November.  It’s actually Joannas Dad’s 80th birthday on the 17th Nov. too,  but I’ll try and get her to come along if she can.  She is just catching a train to meet me for the weekend; right now…. :)

Things are ticking by here for me,  ever since the studios that I worked at /  managed closed, it’s been a precarious time for me,  but I don’t miss the 60 hr weeks and the awful boss I used to have to deal with.  Hence why I’ve been back in the freelance world and even dressing up as a dandy (Pride and Prejudice) , a doctor (Supacell) a posh Londoner (Chronicles of Narnia) and a paparazzi (Legends - Netflix, attached pick, blink and you’ll miss me, I’m on the right of frame) and a lot of other stuff.

This was never ‘The Plan’ but just keeping my hand in with production and making a bit of cash whilst I wait for the next proper, behind-the-camera role to get back stuck into.  In the meantime, I’ve developed a lot of my own creative stuff and started working on my website (again).

I’m still in the same flat in Brixton and next weekend, when I’ll be on a night shoot in the city playing an MP in the 1930’s in a Michael Fassbinder series about the Kennedys,  Magalie is returning from Australia;  you may remember we drove over a couple of years ago to pick up my saxophone, comics and records;  so she’ll be staying in the spare room whilst I stay up all night on the location at the Guildhall; unfortunetely they will cut all my hair (again) and it’ll be a short back and sides..  Something that I hate doing,  but anything for the show. :/

Back to this weekend,  and the heat wave.  It’s all looking good.  I have won free tickets in the neighbourhood ballot for the festival in the local park,  so we will be going to a BIg rave in the sunshine,  with multiple stages and lots of people half our ages..  But it’ll be nice to have a drink in the sun for a change and check out the new sounds.  As it doesn’t look like I’m going anywhere more exotic for a while at the moment. ..

Actually,  speaking of holidays,  I was considering getting the Super 8 films of Grandma / Grandad transferred since you also gave them to me.  I have a contact in Woodbridge, Suffolk who can do a good deal on them,  but I also seem to remember that you had them transferred onto VHS maybe 30 years ago;  Just wondering if you might still have a copy..? Maybe  I could borrow that and transfer it myself.  I still have  2 VHS players and the equipment to digitise stuff…?   Just a thought.  Speaking of historical family stuff..  I’ve now put together a new Photo album of the Hargreaves archives that I picked up on my last visit to Rayleigh.

It’s good to see the images in a chronological order, for once, and not in such a random way.  Also, the narrative has changed from whoever that dead boy was to My family history,  so It’s a True History of Me, My Mum and those other cats..  You may enjoy seeing it.  Although I feel there are a lot of missing images that maybe Ai can now fill in. :)

Right,  I better get ready for my House/birthday wknd, guest.   Please find attached some shots of Joanna and me, and some more of me, just in case you have forgotten what I look like.

Catch up soon,  cheers again!

All, the best,

(almost 54)
